If power and range come first, the EB5 MAX is the bike to beat in our lineup. Its 48 V 15 Ah battery adds up to 720 Wh, nearly double an entry-level city bike, and the 750 W nominal motor with 2,000 W peak pushes it past 28 mph.
The puncture-resistant 26 × 4-inch tires grip sand, mud and gravel, and the lockout fork lets you firm up the suspension on pavement. The 180 mm disc brakes are mechanical: they do the job, but on long descents hydraulic brakes would be welcome.
Equipment is complete for the price: a color display with password lock, cruise control, front and rear lights, fenders and a rear rack. Advertised range is up to 65 miles with pedal assist (Walmart says 50) and 35 miles on throttle alone.
The weak spot is portability. A steel frame and 26-inch fat tires mean a big, heavy bike; the brand doesn't publish its weight, so plan on a ground-level spot to store it. At 28 mph it also exceeds Class 1 and Class 2 limits in many states, so check your local rules.
Best for: Riders who want to hit trails, the beach or the mountains, or heavier riders who need a sturdy bike with lots of battery.
